My name is Nguyen Ti Zhi Chang and I live in Rongan, Vietnam.
Thank you very much for giving me a wheelchair.
When I was a child, I suffered from childhood paralysis (editor: sometimes translated as “polio”) and with this disability am no longer able to walk. I am already married and have a daughter who is six years old. My husband is 33 years old, Jang Tae-hung. He also suffered from childhood paralysis.
Previously, my husband and I lived in Ho Chi Min City, but it was really difficult to make a living there so we moved to Long An province. I made cloth flowers to sell, but so were many others and other than at New Years I couldn’t sell enough to make a living. Besides that, before having this wheelchair, I could only move around using two chairs. That was extremely inconvenient, so I had no choice but to quit my job. So, now our only earnings is the small income from my husband’s job selling lottery tickets.
Because of my disability I can’t hope for a good job or livelihood. So I am raising my child hoping for a brighter future for her.
A wheelchair is so important for people like myself with a physical disability. Because of the wheelchair I can get around more easily and life is much better than before. I am extremely grateful. I think that it would be wonderful if others like myself would be able to have wheelchairs.
I pray for the happiness and health of all those at Wheelchairs of Hope.
Best regards,
