A Wheelchair of Raul in the Philippines

Raul Alcasoda, 42 years old, crawled to get around his town in the Philippines having contracted polio at age two. He lives with his 62 year old mother and two brothers. Raul helped glean on a produce farm, and learned how to repair shoes.

The house he grew up in sits in the middle of a vast farm land with no running water or electricity. Even though his house is more than an hour away, he traveled to the church GLOW partners with to receive his own wheelchair.

Now Raul uses his wheelchair to travel into town to work at a shoe repair shop.
