Nay lin Htike, age 33, had polio at age 2. He however managed to walk until he was 30 when he lost his left ankle to a blocked artery. He used a prosthesis but the pain limited him to 30 minutes at a time.
He studied computers at AAR Japan’s Vocational Training Center and on finishing his course work moved to live with his family 400 miles north of Yangon. The family produces mango and onions. With a wheelchair Nay is able to assist his cousin in the family store. Here is a message from Nay:
I became able to move around by myself thanks to this wheelchair. Now I don’t have pain in walking. Before, I had to ask somebody, but now I can do many things by myself. I have confidence now and am independent. I can concentrate in my work without having any pain. My life is far more comfortable thanks to this wheelchair. I am so thankful. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.
