Nheak Reak, 24, lives with her parents in Cambodia in a small remote village near the Vietnam border. Her parents are rice farmers. Soon after she was born, she went to a hospital for treatment for a high fever. The physician informed her parents that Nheak Reak would not recover from her disease. She is now not able to walk. Sometimes she was able to travel on a friend’s oxcart, but mostly she stayed home. After receiving the wheelchair Nheak Reak is now able to help her parents to prepare and sell Khmer noodles in front of their house.
